Clothing & Jewellery


Clothing must be clean and should not be ripped or torn.  Damaged clothing could potentially pose a safety risk to yourself if it was to get caught on machinery or equipment.

 

 

 

 

 

All members of staff should wear clothing and footwear appropriate for working in.

  • The clothing should be clean and in good condition so as not to pose any contamination risk to the produce.
  • Employees are not allowed to wear any loose jewellery in the food handling or production areas.  Plain rings and sleeper earrings (incl. hoops) are allowed, however jewellery containing stones, gems are strictly prohibited.   Unadorned watches that do not contain glass fronts are permitted but must be covered by gloves during product handling activities.  All other jewellery items must be kept in lockers before entering the packing facility, this includes necklaces, bracelets, bangles etc.   Religious or medical jewellery requires special permission from managers and must be registered.
  • False fingernails are not permitted.
  • Hair & beard nets must be worn by staff members involved in packing produce.

All workers are required to wear enclosed footwear at all times within the market precinct as per BML regulations.

For employees that work on the selling floor, warehouse or in the packing facility safety shoes or boots are preferable.
