Emergency Procedures – Overview
Emergencies
Either a partial or full evacuation may be ordered as a result of any emergency situation where there is a real or potential risk to safety or the site.
Fire Fighting Equipment
Fire Extinguishers, Fire blankets and Fire Hose Reels can be used for initial response depending on the training provided to you.
Fire and Emergency Drills
BML conducts compulsory emergency fire drills during which all Market users will be required to participate. BML will provide reasonable notice of a fire drill to relevant parties prior to the drills being conducted.
Building Fire Safety Regulations
BG Brisbane Pty Ltd adhere to the Building Fire Safety Regulations 2008.
As an employee of BG Brisbane Pty Ltd you are required to comply with the following requirements;
- Must not allow any produce or other item to be placed outside of the building within two metres of a final exit from a building
- Must not block the final exit from neighbouring tenancies or buildings with produce or any other item
- Must not lock any doors on evacuation routes if people are know to be in the building / tenancies.
- Must ensure that fire / smoke doors are not;
- Obstructed
- Damaged
- Held Open (fire doors must close and fully latch after each opening)
- Must notify the Fire Warden of any damage to fire fighting equipment or Emergency Lighting Equipment
Report damage to fire fighting equipment or Emergency Lighting Equipment the BG Brisbane’s Fire Warden

P – Pull the pin from the handle of the fire extinguisher
A – Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire
S – Squeeze the handle
S – Sweep the nozzle side to side
